O texto procura expor o processo decisório por meio de uma perspectiva psicoanalítica, concentrada na figura daquele que decide, na psicologia do próprio ator da decisão. Para tanto lança mão da metáfora da cruz, argumentando que o ser humano, ao decidir, encontra-se em uma encruzilhada angustiante entre impulsos internos (de baixo), ideais normativos (para cima), futuro (para a frente) e passado (para trás).
O presente artigo busca apresentar quais são os problemas que afetam a construção de um profícuo ethos social e político no Brasil. A partir de uma revisão bibliográfica são abordadas às influências do mercado e do Estado na sociabilidade contemporânea. Como a essência patrimonialista e privatista do Estado brasileiro, associada à ação da globalização econômica e cultural atingiu diretamente nossa integração societária, produzindo graves problemas no escopo das relações sociais entre os indivíduos, os grupos e os agentes privados e públicos no país. Given its intimate relationship to the human body, genomic innovation implicates diverse ethical issues, and this is particularly so with respect to human stem cell research, which relies on material harvested from the body.
